Caring for your flowers
Step-by-Step Guide to Caring for Fresh-Cut Flowers

Want to keep your fresh flowers looking beautiful for as long as possible? Follow these simple steps!
1. Choose a Clean Vase
- Start by picking a clean vase for your flowers.
- Wash it with warm, soapy water to ensure it's fresh and free from any bacteria.
2. Trim the Stems
- Use sharp scissors or secateurs to trim about an inch or two off the bottom of each stem.
- Cut the stems at a 45-degree angle to help the flowers soak up more water. You can re-trim them every few days to keep them looking their best.
3. Remove Extra Leaves
- Carefully remove any leaves that will be submerged in the water. This helps to keep the water clean and prevents the flowers from wilting too soon.
4. Fill the Vase with Fresh Water and Flower Food
- Fill your vase halfway with room-temperature water, and add the flower food packet that came with your bouquet. This helps to nourish your flowers and keeps the water clean for longer.
5. Arrange the Flowers
- Now you can arrange your flowers however you like! Make sure the stems are fully submerged in the water.
- Try not to overcrowd them, as this can reduce airflow and shorten their lifespan.
6. Find the Perfect Spot
- Place your vase in a cool, shaded area, away from direct sunlight, heaters, or draughts. Also, avoid putting your flowers near ripening fruit, which can cause them to wilt faster.
7. Change the Water Regularly
- Every 2–3 days, change the water to keep it fresh. Refill the vase with fresh water and flower food if you have extra packets.
8. Re-cut the Stems
- When you change the water, re-trim the stems at a 45-degree angle to help them stay hydrated and fresh.
9. Remove Any Wilting Flowers
- Keep an eye on your arrangement and remove any flowers that start to wilt. This will help the remaining flowers to stay fresh longer.
10. Lightly Mist the Flowers
- You can lightly mist your flowers with water each day to keep them hydrated, especially delicate blooms like roses.
By following these easy steps, you’ll enjoy your fresh-cut flowers for much longer!
